Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dreamy! Upon the first moment the scent of Desert Essence Italian Lemon Hand & Body lotion fills the air you are instantly transported to a lemon grove in the Italian countryside. You take a sip of your Italian lemon spritzer and gaze upon the view. In the distance to the right is your 400 year old Italianate Mansion. Farther off you see Antonio, the man of your dreams, approaching on his Sardinian Steed, his golden cloak snapping behind him. To your left, lemon trees dot the hillside for miles flowing down to meet the ripening grapevines and olive trees. You sit back and nibble on a lemon panna cotta, take a another of sip your lemon spritzer and know all is well with the world.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Smells like benzoate. I love the sweet almond hand and body lotion, so I ordered this thinking it would be similar. The lemon scent is extremely mild, secondary to the sodium benzoate, which is a chemical, cloying scent. The benzoate is very pronounced, is the dominant note, and is what I smell on my skin. (Of course, everyone wears scent differently; perhaps it won't be the same for someone else.) I worked in the beverage industry, and once you learn what sodium benzoate smells/tastes like, it's really hard to ignore. I'm going to return this product and stick to the items I can sniff before I buy. If you're looking for a hit of lemon similar to the fragrances in DE's other [really great] lotions, think twice before purchasing this. Given the quality of their other products, the hiccup on this one is just plain weird.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smells and works nice I've been on a citrus fruit kick lately, so I was super excited to learn of this when it came out! While it smells nice, the smell is actually sort of mild compared to other DE lotions (particularly coconut and vanilla chai, which are very strong and the scent lasts for hours). As usual with DE lotions, the texture is good and rubs into skin well.
